Pelvic bone

photography, acrylic, mixed media and crushed glass on canvas, 24 x 36

In this study of a bone, nature's textures are interchanged with paint and collage. Transfer images of rock, moss and lichen represent deep cavities on the bone. Layers of acrylic paint, oil pastel, mark making and crushed glass add detail, depth and an abstract quality making the familiar unfamiliar and creating intrigue.

This painting is on display, and available for purchase, in the exhibition "INTERDEPENDENCE" at SeeSaw Art Gallery in Englewood, Colorado.
